Parks, Recreation, and Community Events

The Parks & Recreation department focuses on creating community engagement through recreational programming and a wide range of events for residents of all ages. The City’s parks are maintained by the Facilities Coordinator and his team, and together with the Recreation & Community Events Director oversees the planning and development of community parks.

The department coordinates a variety of recreational opportunities, including the annual Summer Recreation Program, the Youth Summer Camp in collaboration with Buhl Park,  and seasonal programming held in collaboration with local partners such as the YMCA, the Buhl Club, Hermitage Little League, and the Hermitage School District.

The department leads the planning of our community events throughout the year, including the Earth Day Festival, Night Markets, Hermitage Arts Festival, the Holiday Light Parade, and the Winter Solstice Celebration.

To keep residents informed and engaged, the department also produces a quarterly Community Update Newsletter in partnership with the Hermitage School District, highlighting upcoming events, programs, and opportunities to get involved.

The Hermitage Parks and Recreation Board serves as an advisory group to the Board of Commissioners and collaborates closely with the department on long-term planning and the development of community-focused initiatives.
