Covered Device Recycling Act

Covered Devices
Covered Devices include:
- Computer Monitors
- Computer Peripherals
- Desktop Computers
- Laptop Computers
- Televisions
- Household Appliances
Electronic Waste
Examples of electronic waste (E-waste) include:
- All computer peripherals, including monitors, keyboards, mice, printers, and faxes
- All computers
- TVs
- Most household appliances – Appliances with digital components or circuit boards (e.g., microwaves with digital displays, dishwashers, refrigerators) are considered e-waste.
- Older mechanical appliances (e.g., turn-dial microwaves) are considered white goods and can be dropped off at the City Garage at no cost.
- Small appliances (blenders, mixers, toasters, etc.) can be disposed of with regular trash using an excess waste tag ($2 per item).
City Garage Collection
Residents may take electronics to the City Garage, located on Virginia Road, as part of the solid waste recycling and yard waste contract. Collection hours are the first and third Friday of each month from 7 AM to Noon, year-round (except on shutdown days—see the City of Hermitage Calendar for building closures).
- Please call the City Garage at (724) 342-0210 to schedule your drop-off.
- An e-tag must be purchased before drop-off. Price is per electronic item.
Other Locations
Please call the site in advance of drop off.
- Best Buy in Niles and Boardman takes flat panels and tube TVs 32 inches or smaller.
- Goodwill takes all types of electronics and will take flat panel TVs, not tube or console TVs.
- Staples in Hermitage takes all types of electronics for disposal, except for TV’s.
