Offices & Employees

The Planning and Development Department is headed by the Director and, in addition to Planning, consists of the Zoning Office, the Building and Inspection Office and the Community and Economic Development Office.

The Department contains a total of eight employees, with three specifically assigned to Planning and Development. Department responsibilities include the review of all land development plans and requests for subdivisions as well as issues relating to the City’s zoning and other land use ordinances.

Geographic Information Systems

The Department has trained personnel who are involved in the creation and maintenance of the City’s GIS-based computer mapping programs. It provides technical support to other City departments and for various City and regional studies as well as for ongoing City and County planning projects relating to transportation and land use issues. The Planning and Development Department works closely with the Mercer County Regional Planning Commission, the Hermitage Planning Commission and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
