Inaugural Winter Solstice Event

The City hosted it’s inaugural Winter Solstice event on Wednesday, December 21, 2022. The two hour event was held in Rodney White park and featured live music by jazz duo Mark DeWalt & Jane Gregg, beverages provided by Draft Horse mobile bar and Big Rail Brewing and horse drawn wagon rides by Empty Nest Farm Clydesdales.

City Appoints Director of Business & Community Development

The City of Hermitage has announced that Mark Longietti has been hired to fill the position of Director of Business & Community Development

As Director of Business & Community Development he will work to strengthen existing relationships with city businesses and industries and be available to assist them in identifying and assessing their needs and determining solutions to implement

Natural Christmas Tree Collection

In case you missed our natural Christmas tree collection, 
 

The Pittsburgh District of the Army Corps of Engineers is accepting old Christmas trees at Shenango River Lake for aquatic habitat improvement projects.

Trees should be free of non-biodegradable materials like ornaments and lights.

 

Location and drop-off dates:

December 26, 2022 – January 20, 2023, Shenango Rec Area boat launch

Special Recognition

At the December Commissioner Work Session, Officer Barry Wilson was honored as the 2022 Officer of the Year and newly appointed Chief of Police Adam Piccirillo was acknowledged by former Chief of Police Eric Jewell. Later in the month, Chief Piccirillo presented letters of accommodations to Officer Kudelko, Officer Lauderbaugh and Officer Frampton for their explementary performance in the field

Pandemic Tax Credit Available

Most businesses, including tax-exempt organizations, may be eligible for up to $26,000 in federal tax credits, per full-time employee retained under the Employee Retention Tax Credit program (ERC).   While the program relates to tax years 2020 and 2021, businesses can claim it retroactively by filing amended tax returns within three years of tax filing deadlines.

Location: Buhl Park, Hermitage PA

Application Deadline: Open, until positions are filled

Position Overview:

In partnership with the City of Hermitage, Buhl Park provides a six-week, outdoor day camp program

for children entering Kindergarten to grade 6.

Dates: The program runs June 12 - Aug 4 with mandatory paid training June 6-8

FLY HIGH with HORSES Offering the Veteran Community of Mercer County and Surrounding Areas an Equine Based Horsemanship Program 

[Trails End] first priority is to promote physical and mental health to Veterans and their families through the use of horse related activities. [Trails End] offer this service to Veterans and their families in Mercer County. [Their] six-week therapeutic program uses a series of hands-on learning activities including ground horsemanship skills, utilizing equine-assisted activities to enhance learning and development.
