[ARCHIVED] Hermitage Food Waste to Energy Facility Partners with Thiel

HMA Fleet New

Through the involvement of eCenter’s Executive Director Jeff Meier and the Hermitage Food Waste to Energy Facilities Superintendent Tom Darby, a collaboration with Thiel College has been created.

The City of Hermitage’s Water Pollution Control Department currently operates a Food Waste to Energy Program, which converts commercial food waste items into electricity.

The facility has partnered with Thiel College’s MBA Program to research the possibility of collecting and utilizing residential food wastes to supplement the waste organics it is now receiving.

There are obstacles that would need to be considered such as transportation and collection, separation, and other logistics unusual to the service.  There are communities around the nation that provide a similar service but none like the Hermitage system.

We are asking residents to please give 5 minutes of their time to take a short survey that will help in our process.  The link to the survey is below and will be available until February 17th only.

 Thank you!
