"Funds are coming together to cover the transformation of the area around the Shenango Valley Mall, with the vision set on creating a city center. All that the “go” signal is waiting for now is word on what the developer’s final plan will be, officials say.
Although the mall project is still in its design phase, City Manager Gary Hinkson said the plan for Hermitage’s town center is already in the city’s comprehensive plan.
“There will be transportation improvements, and it would also be an area that can have mixed uses,” Hinkson said."
Development Highlights:
1. Road improvements at intersection of N Hermitage Rd and Hermitage elementary school complex access road, allowing for development of vacant lots behind school
2. Roadway development connecting N Hermitage Rd and E State St through the mall property
3. Receipt of $2.5 million dollar grant from PA Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program for infrastructure improvements
4. PennDot to convert intersection of E State St and Shenango Valley Freeway into a roundabout. Project includes highway lighting and sidewalks
