[ARCHIVED] Hermitage PD Community Safety Series

PD Community Classes Poster

The City of Hermitage and the Hermitage Police Department are hosting another Community Safety presentation series. There is NO cost and NO registration required. 

These will be at 6:00pm in the Commissioner's Room of the City building. Contact Officer Staples with any questions, sstaples@hermitage.net or 724-983-6780 ext. 1766 Please see the dates and topics below: 

 

 

Sex Trafficking Awareness: Tuesday February 6, 2024 @ 6pm

-          Types of trafficking, traffickers

-          Psychology/personality traits of traffickers

-          Vulnerabilities for victimization/ boy vs. girl victims, abuse cycles

-          Exploitation, “grooming,” sexual aggression, forced criminality 

-          Warning signs/indicators of trafficking, observing and reporting 

-          Prevention concepts- protective factors, competency development

 

Emotional & Social Health and Wellness: Tuesday March 12, 2024 @ 6pm

-          Emotional &  social development, Maslow’s Hierarchy on Needs

-          Healthy vs. unhealthy relationships, communication/social interaction concepts

-          Self-esteem, character, vulnerabilities

-          “Grooming,” sexual aggression, exploitation

-          Protective factors, competency development, safe social media, bullying, etc…

-          Laws related to technology/social media, decision-making, mental toughness

 

Social Media & Teenagers: Tuesday April 9, 2024 @ 6pm

-          Social media advantages, disadvantages,

-          Internet safety risks, predators/hackers/scammers, etc…

-          Sexting and sextortion

-          Emotional intelligence, decision-making and accountability

-          Crimes related to technology, cyber-bullying

-          Social media and future consequences  

 

School Violence & Student Threats: Tuesday May 7, 2024 @ 6pm

-          Myths/misconceptions of school violence

-          School violence in American schools

-          ALICE concepts and limitations

-          Warning behaviors and types of threats/making a threat vs. posing a threat

-          Threat assessment process and classifications  

-          Pathway to violence, concerning behaviors, protective factors
