Low bid comes in
under estimate to pave roads - March 31, 2011
A Wampum company submitted the apparent low bid to pave streets in the
Rombold Road area of Hermitage. Youngblood Paving Inc.’s bid of $307,135 was
the lowest of six opened Wednesday. Engineer Herbert, Rowland and Grubic Inc.,
Hermitage, had estimated the work would cost $330,000 and the other bids ranged
from $324,510 to $364,199. The project calls for paving Rombold, Delaware Street
and the parts of Haywood, Mary, Paul, Madison, Carolyn and Stafford streets in
Hermitage. City commissioners likely will award a contract in April. This
project will complete a three-phase, two-year program of storm water drainage
improvements and road repairs in the area with the use of federal Community
Development Block Grant funds.
NORTH BUHL FARM DRIVE PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENT PROJECT - CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Due to upcoming construction activities along North Buhl Farm Drive in the
City of Hermitage, the west side of North Buhl Farm Drive (southbound traffic),
from East State Street – Highland Road, will be closed, weather permitting, on
Friday, March 18th, 2011 through June 1, 2011 (approx.). Construction
includes building sidewalks and water line replacement. Detours and signage will
be in place during construction.

Sharon-Herald - Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011
The southbound lane of North Buhl Farm Drive is closed to traffic as
workers from Combine Construction Inc. replace water lines. A detour forces
drivers to travel east on Highland Avenue.
Hermitage firm awarded contract for street work
- March 9, 2011
Hermitage commissioners on Tuesday awarded a contract for road
construction and storm water drainage improvements in the Woodside Drive area to
David Construction Co. Inc., Hermitage. The company’s bid, $816,304, was the
lowest of 10. The pre-bid estimate was $1.1 million. Work will be done on
Woodside from Boyd Drive to Lyle Drive; Lyle from Woodside to Highland Road;
Richmond Drive from Woodside to Highland; Cohasset Drive from Woodside north to
the cul-de-sac; and Pine Tree Lane. New signs will be put up and the company
will try to minimize traffic disruptions, Hinkson said. “We are going to try to
keep the streets open,” he said. “There might be some periodic adjustments in
traffic flow.” Officials hope the work will be done in the fall.
