The City Treasurer is the tax collector for the City of Hermitage, has charge of all City monies from all sources, deposits the monies in such depositories as are designated by the Board of Commissioners, and performs duties as directed by the Board of Commissioners.

The Treasurer is elected at large by the voters of the City for a term of four years, must be a registered voter of the City, bondable by such amount as determined by the Board of Commissioners, and is compensated as fixed by the Board of Commissioners.

County/City tax bills will be mailed on March 1st, 2011. It is your responsibility to notify the City in the
event you do not receive them. Credit card payments are accepted for payment of COUNTY/CITY real estate tax online at www.officialpayments.com or by phone at 1-800-272-9829. Remember there is a 3%
charge to your credit card for the processing company for the use of this service. The code for Co/City tax should be entered as 7502. If you are requesting a receipt, kindly return both sections of your bill with a self-addressed stamped envelope, and we will stamp your receipt PAID and then return it to you.

April 15th is the deadline for the PA Property Tax/Rent Rebate. The rebate program is available to eligible Pennsylvanians age 65 or older; widows and widowers age 50 or older; and residents with disabilities age 18 or older. The income limit is $35,000.00, which excludes half of your social security. Forms are
available on line at: www.papropertytaxrelief.com, or in our office. Be sure to check with your tax preparer if you have not already done so.

Business License Tax is due by April 15th. After that date, a $25.00 late fee will be assessed to all returns. The form is available on the City website, www.hermitage.net.

New Web Tool Allows Pennsylvanians to Check Status of Property Tax/Rent Rebates

The Property Tax/Rent Rebate program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians age 65 and older; widows and widowers age 50 and older; and people with disabilities age 18 and older. The program expansion increased the income limit from $15,000 to $35,000 (which excludes half of Social Security income) for homeowners and raises the maximum rebate for both homeowners and renters from $500 to $650. The income limit for renters is $15,000.

CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS are now being accepted for the payment of all real estate taxes in the City of Hermitage. There will be a 3% charge to your credit card account from the processing company for using this service.

• On-line payment: Go to www.officialpayments.com and follow the instructions on the website. The jurisdiction code for the Hermitage School District real estate tax is 7505
and the jurisdiction code for the County
City of Hermitage real estate tax is 7502.

• Pay by phone: Call 1-800-2PAYTAX
(1-800-272-9829). Be sure to have your tax card and all proper information
available.

BUSINESS LICENSE TAX is due by April 15. If this tax is not paid by April 15 a $25.00 penalty is assessed. The 2010 City of Hermitage Business License Tax form and instructions are available for download at the City website, www.hermitage.net.

RENTAL PROPERTY AND TENANT REPORT

 City of Hermitage Tenant Registration Form

§101. Registration of Rental Properties and Tenants.
1. Owners of rental properties are required to file a rental property and tenant report for all rental properties located within the City of Hermitage. The property owner must supply the addresses of all rental properties or units and the names of all persons occupying such units or properties.

2. The City will advise all such property owners of their duty to register their rental properties and tenants. The City will supply such forms as it prepares for this purpose. All property owners shall file a rental property and tenant report, annually, and will notify the City of any change in occupancy within 30 days of the change.

3. Any owner of rental property who fails, neglects or refuses to register his/her property, or refuses to identify his/her tenants or refuses to notify the City of any change in occupancy within the prescribed time limit, or any person who refuses to permit the City or any agent designated by the City to examine his/her books, records and papers and any person who knowingly makes any incomplete, false or fraudulent report shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not less than $5 nor more than $600 plus costs and, in default of payment of said fine and costs, to a term of imprisonment not to exceed 30 days.
