The American Business Women's Association

The American Business Women's Association (ABWA) is a national association of working women founded in 1949. The objective of the Association is to promote the professional, educational, cultural, and social advancement for businesswomen. The Association brings together businesswomen of diverse occupations and provides opportunities for them to help themselves and others grow personally and professionally through leadership, education, networking support and national recognition. Each year Chapters sponsor various fund-raising events to generate funds or scholarship awards. Thousands of dollars in scholarships have been awarded locally.

Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts

The Boy Scouts of America was incorporated to provide a program for community organizations that offers effective character, citizenship, and personal fitness training for youth.

Girl Scouting is committed to helping all girls from every background to develop the confidence, determination, and skills needed to thrive in today's world.

GFWC Hermitage Woman's Club

As women volunteers, they are united and dedicated to providing service to Hermitage's governing bodies, educational systems, health causes, and in particular women's issues that unite them in understanding various issues and opportunities for friendships. Specialty groups include golfing, bowling, gardening, arts and crafts, drama, and bridge plus many service projects and activities. The club is open to all women 18 years and older. Yearly dues cover the cost of belonging to local, county, state, and national General Federation of Woman's Clubs.

Hermitage Historical Society

The Hermitage Historical Society was incorporated in 1996. The Society's purpose is to promote and preserve the rich history of Hermitage. Headquarters of the Society are located within the 129-year-old Victorian Italianate-style house at 5465 East State Street, Hermitage.

Hermitage Kiwanis

Kiwanis is a Native American expression word meaning "self-expression" or "to make oneself known." The motto of the Hermitage Kiwanis is "We Build." Kiwanis is actually a service club which is international in scope. They support R.I.F., Hermitage Goodfellows Christmas Program, Mercer County Education an Rehabilitation Center, and the D.A.R.E. Program, which combats drugs, alcohol, violence and much more. The focus of this club, recognized by the nature of its projects, is geared towards the youth, the elderly and the disadvantaged.

Hermitage Rotary Club

The Rotary Club is an organization of business and professional persons united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. This is exemplified in the official Rotary International motto, "Serve Above Oneself." The Hermitage Rotary Club was founded in 1955. Some of their projects include an annual used clothing collection (the clothing is distributed both in the United and States and internationally), several fundraisers which provide monies that are donated to local community organizations and projects, and participation in the PENNDOT Highway Litter Control Project.

Hermitage Volunteer Fire Department

The Hermitage and Patagonia Volunteer Fire Departments have been serving the citizens of Hermitage for over 50 years, The officers and members of these departments receive no compensations, and their reward for their time and labor to respond to emergency incidents is simply the satisfaction of serving the citizens of Hermitage in their time of need. Mercer County League of Women Voters

The organization's purpose is to promote political responsibility of citizens by informed and active participation in their government. To this end, public forums are held, candidate debates are sponsored, and information to the voters is supplied. The League also provides educational civic information to juveniles and encourages active participation in their programs.

Sharon Lions Club

Their charter name is the Sharon Lions Club; however their service area includes Hermitage, Sharon, Sharpsville, and Brookfield, OH, and membership is open to all adults. Being purely a service organization, and as part of the Lions Club International, they are the largest service organization in the world. Their goal is aiding members of their respective communities with a special focus on those who are sight and/or hearing impaired. Fundraising events include the Hoyle Basketball Tournament, a food booth at Buhl Day, and Lions Mints sales in local restaurants and businesses.

Shenango Valley YMCA

The Shenango Valley YMCA helps people develop values and behavior that are consistent with Christian principles. The YMCA is for people of all faiths, races, abilities, ages, and incomes. No one is turned away for inability to pay. At the Shenango Valley YMCA, there are many youth and adult programs and activities. The YMCA is located at 925 N. Hermitage Road.
