There is no Photo ID law in PA for in person voting at the polls. Only those people voting for the first time or those voting for the first time in a new polling location are required to show some form of ID, which can be photo or non-photo. The information that was published in the September newsletter was created by the Department of State and distributed by Mercer County to explain the “practice runs” that all counties in Pennsylvania conducted at the polls in 2012 and 2013. Based on the state court ruling earlier this year, counties are no longer required or permitted to conduct such practice and that information is no longer accurate or relevant.
